SYC play guide

SYC | Designed for Year 9 - 13 cricketers and PE classes (30min game duration)

SYC (Smash Yard Cricket) is an easy-to-play format, with only a few rules and a limited amount of equipment.

Suitable for all abilities and keeping everyone active throughout the game, it’s an action-packed game ideal for a PE class, or to play as part of a training session.

During a PE class, multiple games can be running at the same time (10-12 players per game) to ensure students are actively involved throughout the session. A game involving 12 players will take approx. 30 minutes.

SYC is fun! And it provides significant flexibility as a cricket format - played anywhere, with any number of Players of any ability and limited equipment.

Environment and Equipment

SYC can be played in any indoor or outdoor space - and all you need is a bat and a ball. Wickets can be a rubbish bin, a chair - or anything similar you have available.

There is very limited set-up or equipment needed. Just play!

Flexibility and Players

A game ideally has a maximum of 12 players to ensure everyone stays active throughout the game.

Multiple games can also be played at the same time in an outdoor space, providing flexibility for any number of Players.

There are no teams in SYC, instead Players bat in pairs against the rest of the group. This provides flexibility to play with any number of Players. There is no need to have a set number of Players for two teams.

PE Class or Training Session

SYC is ideal for a PE Class or a team training session.
It can be a very social game, or a very competitive game with strategic thinking and play. Modify the 'local rules' to best suit your Players and their abilities.
